Paid Nursery Worker
Purpose: The Paid Nursery
Worker provides a safe, secure, and loving environment for nursery-aged
children in their care.
Accountability: Nursery Coordinator.
Qualifications: Must have experience
working with nursery-aged children, have passed a criminal background check,
and be certified in first aid and infant/child CPR and AED. This person must
have a demonstrated faith in God.
Relationships: Children, parents, other
paid and volunteer nursery workers, and the Nursery Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
- Provide for the care, security and
health of nursery aged children while in the nursery. This will include
feeding and holding children, changing diapers, and engaging them in
language activities like storytelling or singing.
- Maintain an information card for each
child and update as needed.
- Use name labels as needed and ensure
that parents utilize the sign-in/sign-out sheets.
- Use and maintain the paging system.
- Support volunteers with their
responsibilities.
- Ensure a minimum of two unrelated
adults in the nurseries at all times.
- Notify the Nursery Coordinator a
minimum of 24 hours in advance if you will be absent.
- Record hours worked in accordance with
church policy.
- Disinfect and clean toys weekly,
communicating to the Nursery Coordinator when there is a need to repair
or replace toys or equipment and replenish supplies. Ensure that the
room is tidy and in good order prior to leaving.
- Comply with the Policy for the
Protection of Children, Youth, Elderly, and Persons with Disabilities,
any employee responsibilities approved by the Pastoral and Staff
Relations Committee, and all safety regulations approved by the church.
- Comply with the Nursery Policies and
Procedures.
Physical Qualifications:
- Ability to be on his/her feet for four
(4) hours straight.
- Ability to lift children weighing up
to 40 pounds and up to 36 inches tall, while utilizing appropriate
lifting techniques.
- Ability to supervise and provide a
safe environment for multiple children.
- Ability to get down and up from the
floor in order to play with the children.
Type: This is a paid part-time
position requiring an average of approximately four (4) hours per week,
including evening and weekend work.

Evaluation: Annual evaluation will
be conducted by the Nursery Coordinator in coordination with Pastoral and
Staff Relations Committee.
